The Incredible Alaska King Salmon! We offer both saltwater fishing for Alaska salmon and Alaska Halibut and river trips for Alaska King or Chinook Salmon, Silver or Coho Salmon, and Red or Sockeye Salmon or, better yet, try a combination. Known for its trophy-size Alaska king salmon, the Kenai River sports two runs of these huge fish. The first begins in mid-May and the second, in early July, runs through the season ending July 31st. On May 17, 1985, a 97 lb. Alaska king salmon was landed and still holds the current world record. Kenai king salmon average 30 to 60 pounds with many 60 to 80 pounders taken in a fishing season.
